A little bit about ourselves...

Vincent and I are high school sweethearts originally from Houston, TX where we met years ago. We currently live in the Bay Area with our sweet pup, Sophie. She's 15 and still acts like a baby.

We started this food blog, Chow with Jao, to share our love for food and to document the fun we have cooking & baking at home. We primarily focus on home recipes presented in short videos with Youtube as our main video platform. You can expect concise, straight-to-the-point recipes on our blog, without paragraphs of backstories.

Like most foodies, we love traveling and trying out the best restaurants & dishes in the area. Since we already spend a lot of time curating our own list of places to eat, we figured we'd also share it with the world. So, you'll definitely see blog posts with our recommendations along with videos about our food adventures.


Hi, I'm Katy Jao.

sample-image I’m a 3rd grade dual language teacher in the Bay Area, and I love baking sweets for my coworkers during the school year. Pistachio macarons at Back to School night are always a big hit! Ever since I was a kid, I would film pretend cooking shows with my camcorder to show off a new recipe or mimic the greats on the Food Network. This blog is turning that dream into a reality! I’ve always loved studying gastronomy, cooking, and eating! I can’t wait to share that with all of you.

Favorite food: Any noodle dish from all cuisines.
Favorite thing to cook: Homemade pasta.

Hi, I'm Vincent Chow.

sample-image During the day, I'm a software engineer, but for all the others hours in my life, I'm a photographer, videographer, and just a creative person in general. I especially love working on Chow with Jao because it gives me a platform to bring all my interests into one space. From cooking, to shooting & editing, to developing this site, I've never had so much fun doing all my hobbies at once.

Favorite food: Artisan or NY pizza & crème brûlée.
Favorite thing to cook: I love baking the most since it's technically challenging and well, who doesn't love some baked buttery goodness.
